X Factor Australia Week 3

The Aftermath

Rock Week…whatever.

YMS - Walk This Way, the stylist should be shot fluoro colour blocking is never a good thing. Didn’t like it at all, I don’t like them at all.

Christina - Gives You Hell, I can’t stand that song and the crowd surfing was so self indulgent and naff.

Andrew - The Flame, did you not get the memo? Its rock week not sob week and putting flaming trash cans on the stage *slow clap*. Please send him home, he wants to go.

Johnny - Here Without You, I hate that I’m saying this but sans all his showy-blowy douchebag fuckery he can sing.

Three Wishez - Numb, that could have been thr biggest train wreck but it wasn’t Sophia was radiating ire, Joseph was not just a back up singer and Fred-Day he was on fire, favorite of the night.

Jacqui - Shut Up and Drive, SHAKES.MY.FUCKING.HEAD. Like I said last week song choice was going to be a big factor in my continued support of her and this was such a bad song pick.

Reece - Dream On, yes young Reece dream on indeed. I’m sorry I just don’t get him and those awful squeals at the end ugh my ears.

Audio Vixen - Good Times, vocally yes it was good times as per usual there is no question they have the best vocals but overall it was flat.

Declan - Life On Mars, he is in a whole other world, seriously this kid has that something that makes you pay attention.

Mitchell - Run To Paradise, it was possibly the only real rock we got to see last night, shame about Guy telling us he is apparently rude to the crew but not telling us the whole story.

Things Learnt

  • The judges have no concept of what rock is. I’m sure all they did was throw darts at list of songs and thought if we but lots of guitars in and fill the stage with smoke and scaffolding people will think it’s rock.
  • It is still the Mel B show. Nat tries to shade Mel B and she shuts her down with a swift whatevahhh and hand flick
  • Ronan still won’t shut up about ‘winning’ last year
  • Guy will do anything to get people to not vote for the other contestants

X Factor Australia Week 2

The Fallout

Group Performance with LMAFO - Party Rock, yawn

Guest Performer

Sneaky Sound System - BIG, oh my lord, two words people, Golden Gimps. Miss Connie is one of the best talents ever to come out of this country and she proved it again I can’t wait for the new album.

Kelly Clarkson - Mr Know It All

Bottom Two Performance

Jacqui - Respect, I don’t get it, where the hell is that creature who stalked the stage last week, that riot girl that punched it out like a pro? The Judges shredding may have cut her confidence but song choice again let her down.

Tayla - Fighter, spoken intro, ad lib middle eight oh Tayla gone and stole Jacqui’s fire and became a panther singing for life, she wasn’t gonna lie down and lose her spot, she shut Jacqui down.

Eliminated - But sadly Tayla’s last ditch attempt to show her passion seemed to little too late for the judges as they booted her off. I am a little sad as she was the only contestant I felt that could give me any kind of inde even faux indie leanings.

Another week gone another contestant down how will they cope with the oh so orignal Rock week? Who knows but if Jacqui doesn’t get some Joan Jet, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Pat Banatar or Karen O I give up on her. (I will bet anything she gets given a Suzi Quatro song…do not want)

The Aftermath

Party Anthems *vomits* sorry about that lets just get to the shading I mean recap.

Audio Vixen - Valerie, I’m not sure how that’s a party anthem but the public picked the songs so all song choices will be forgiven this week, none the less they still worked it and had real retro realness.

Declan - I Write Sins Not Tragedies, by what stretch of the imagination is this a party song? Anyway lucky Mini Warhol can pull off such theatrics, I would have left the make up off Declan it was a little distracting but the set and costuming for he band were a nice touch.

Mitchell - All Summer Long, *shudder* Even writing the name hurts my soul, I just can’t.

Jacqui - Heaven Is A Place On Earth, Wind machine, costume reveal, odd biker/angel dancers this could have been a Eurovision act but again song choice did not suit, no matter how much Mel  B protests it was a ‘dirty rock version’

YMS - All Night Long, taking on AC/DC no comment.

Tyla - The Edge Of Glory, *sigh* she looked amazing…that’s about it, they put this jazz spin on it which just didn’t fly. Again song choice lets her down.

Reece - I Kissed A Girl, OK I get it now he just screams, that’s why everyone likes him yeah? I didn’t like anything about it, wire fences are only for 80’s pop stars and t.A.t.u and the mouth raping at the end was horrid

Andrew - I Want To Break Free, *rolls eyes*

Three Wishez - Please Don’t Stop The Music, now that’s the party I want to be at. Thank the lord they got to do their ad libs and little mash-up

Johnny - Down, lame, lame, lame, lame, lame. That is all

Christina - Girls Just Wanna Fun, I really like her pronunciation (don’t look at me like that its important) and this was much more ‘her’ than last week great way to end the show.

Things Learnt

  • Australia should never ever be allowed to pick the songs again
  • Its still the Mel B show
  • Guy steals ideas
  • I don’t know what parties the judges go to but I don’t ever want to attend

Results show recap to follow.

X Factor Australia Week 1

The Aftermath

Disclaimer: I have decided to once again recap the live shows as I did last year. Many apologies to followers who couldn’t give less of a shit, the indie side of my music heart is telling me to watch Q&A but the pop side is singing louder than the chorus and I cannot resist it so I give you permission to unfollow me (but only until the series is over, if you don’t come back I’ll be a very sad Panda). I’m going to be honest I’m not taken by anyone so far this year so until the weeks pass and I develop favourites these will mostly be my complaints.

Reece - Closer To The Edge - OK this song was everywhere on X Factor (Like do they have some kind of deal with 30 Seconds To Mars?) this year so it got tired for me really easily and honestly I don’t see what the hype is all about with this kid, yes I admit the boy has got some serious pipes but I’m not getting anything else. Also Meggins? A Dress? Whoever styled him should be shot.

Three Wishez - Telephone - Nice Cube. I didn’t mind it they all looked good and the girl is stunning, I just don’t think it was the right song for them and I don’t know why Ronan didn’t give them a mashup because they have done that all the way through and it works for them.

Andrew - I’m Not Moving - I’m not interested. The nut salesman does nothing for me he has to go.

Christina - Since You’ve Been Gone - She’s such a little dynamo who knows how to work the stage but I didn’t like the arrangement at all and again I wasn’t feeling the song choice.

Mitchell - Only Girl In The World - Banjos, RiRi and tattoos need I say more? I have no idea how this worked so well but it did.

Johnny - Moves Like Jagger - Where do I start the shredding? Was it the lousy Power Point effects? Was it his half baked vocals and dancing? Was it the fuckery with his name at the end? My brain hurts from having to think about it.

Audio Vixen - Viva La Vida - I’m not a big Coldplay fan but they made it bearable no doubt the most polished vocals in the whole competition and that last harmony was so good.

JacquiLove Story - Worst song choice of the whole night bitch isn’t 12, none the less she still killed it but her set looked the cheapest I mean you couldn’t get more flowers and the raising up into the air was a little too much.

Declan - Resistance - Bow down to the Mini Andy Warhol, look who just shut all you naysayers down. My only criticism is that the cane was a a little wankey.

Cleo - Jar Of Hearts - I shaded this poor girl something shocking on twitter during the show but I do feel bad for her because she does have a good voice and honestly I didn’t pick that she missed the intro I thought it was deliberate because the whole vibe to her performance from the little red costume to the lighting and the set was all very dramatic (which is what she needs to be beacuse up to now she has been boring last night was the first time I wanted to watch her), I thought that ‘extended’ intro was fitting.

YMS - The Lazy Song/Price Tag- Bruno Mars I’m out, I couldn’t listen. I went outside and stood in the gale force wind that Melbourne experienced last night much more enjoyable. I have nothing against them its just the song.

Tyla - Set Fire To The Rain - Jessica Rabbit is that you? The only contestant that has the type of voice akin to anything remotely indie (thus by default has the potential to be a fave of mine) gets given an Adele song what even? And the flaming piano I’m sorry but Adele does not go in for that crap.

Things Learnt

  • Guy likes ugly, shiny, camo print jackets.
  • Ronan is still harping on about Altiyan like he is something to be harping on about.
  • Nat will not say anything bad.
  • Mel B is casting the shade on the contestants, the other judges and the host…thank the lord
